Praise for Rosen Trevithick

"Brilliant."
- The Independent
"It's hilarious to the point that I had to put the book down because I couldn't see the screen for my tears and this happened a few times. The incident in the kitchen with the My Ickle Pony Tail had me curled up so I didn't wet myself."
- K. Farrimond (Amazon Reviewer)
"An absolute corker of a read."
- Elaine G (Amazon Top 500 Reviewer)
"The ups are oh so funny, the downs are quite heartbreaking. I am not ashamed to say I was in tears more than once. The last story just blew me away when I got to it. This is definitely the best collection of stories I've read in a long while and I'm sure I will read them again."
- J. Stacey (Amazon Top 1000 Reviewer)

I've reviewed In the Blood

Today I reviewed In the Blood, which is my favourite of the Kindle books I've read so far.

On Amazon it's listed as "In the Blood (A Genealogical Crime Mystery)" but there's really no need for Steve Robinson to market it to a niche. With or without an interest in genealogy, it's a great mystery drama. It deserves to be a mainstream book and hopefully now that it's been released as a paperback it will become a household name.

I won't give much away here, because if you would like to read my thoughts on the book, you can take a look at my reviews.

What I will restrict to my own blog, was that I noticed many comparisons between In the Blood and my novel Footprints. I can only aspire to be as skilled a writer as Robinson, but please indulge me for a few moments.

Both involve an outsider travelling to Cornwall to investigate a family secret. Both involve understanding multiple generations to solve puzzles. Both are set on beautiful Cornish estuaries leading down to the sea. Both involve protagonists who are pursuing mysteries to help them cope with their own demons.

However, our protagonists are quite different. In the Blood has an American adult male paid to investigate somebody else's past, Footprints follows the path of Jenna, a teenage girl struggling to understand the death of her mother.

I'm very fond of setting my own stories on Cornish creeks, so it's no wonder that the thing that appealed to me most about In the Blood was the setting.
